KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian table tennis carved a historic milestone in Laos when Karen Lyne and Tee Ai Xin delivered an early Merdeka gift by clinching the women’s doubles crown at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Feeder Vientiane 2025.
Big congratulations to Karen Lyne and Tee Ai Xin for winning the Women’s Doubles Championship — Malaysia’s first-ever WTT Senior Title! 🏆
The Malaysian duo stunned Taiwan’s Wu Ying Shuan and Wu Jia En 11-8, 11-7, 8-11, 11-2 in Friday’s final to become the first Malaysians to capture a World Tour title.
The triumph was especially sweet, serving as redemption after April’s near-miss in Slovenia, where Karen and Ai Xin reached their maiden World Tour final at the Feeder Otocec 1 but fell short against Japan’s Hitomi Sato and Saki Shibata, despite overcoming Germany’s Sophia Klee and Franziska Schreiner in the semifinals.
Adding to Malaysia’s pride, Javen Choong and Karen Lyne secured a runner-up finish in the mixed doubles event at the same tournament.

In Vientiane, the Malaysians began their campaign in dominant fashion, sweeping aside the home pair Bounleut Keomany and Chanthida Nomichith 11-1, 11-1, 11-2 in the opening round.
